Lucas Oil Series @ LaSalle
The team headed down to the LaSalle Speedway for the Lucas Oil Dirt Series sanctioned event. The night started out well with Bret out qualifying the likes of Scott Bloomquist, Dennis Erb Jr., Austin Hubbard and Kevin Weaver. Bret ended up qualifying fifth in group a against the fifteen cars in his group. This slated Bret to roll off in position number three in heat race number one. Heat one lined up with Don O'Neal and Jason Feger in row 1, Bret and Jason Landers in row 2, Scott Bloomquist and Kevin Weaver making up row number 3, and row number 4 had Austin Hubbard and Dennis Erb Jr. Through some intense racing action in the ten lap heat Bret found himself in the sixth position when things settled down. This put Bret to the B-Main where he would come in in the 6th place but ended up making the 50 lap event using the quick time provisional. The 50 lap event was cut short for Bret when he pulled off on lap 22 for overheating problems and wound up with a 22nd place finish. LaSalle Speedway had an awesome track prepared and the team looks forward to returning next week.
Rough Finish @ LaSalle
The Jet and team were back in action at the LaSalle Speedway following a week off after weather would not cooperate. The night started off strong qualifying second in time out of twenty-two cars that took time. The second place qualifying position put Bret on the pole of heat race number two. Heat race number two saw a track predominantly favoring the top side early on in the ten lap event. Throughout the race Bret continued to work the bottom and worked his way around Mike Provenzano on the seventh lap. Bret continued on to win the heat and went on to the redraw for feature starting spot. The redraw consisted of the top two finishers from each of three heats. The redraw put Bret in the fifth starting position. The car was fast early on working the bottom, picking up a couple spots early on in the feature event. Bret after trying the top side off the restart sailed into the third position past the #10 of Scott Schmitt. After passing Scott, Bret continued to work the highside trying to get around the K9 machine of Mike Glynn. A task that would not be done, after having a run on the outside Bret had to make a move to avoid the K9 sliding up off the bottom and tried to make his pass on the lowside of turns one and two. Bret was unable to complete the pass after clipping a tire buried on the inside of the turn. After completing a few more circuits around the LaSalle Speedway the nose caught the track and folded under the #5 machine ending our night early with a 13th place DNF. Overall the car ran good and the team looks forward to the upcoming weekend with Kankakee on Friday Night and the Lucas Oil Series event @ LaSalle on Saturday Night.
LaSalle Points Opener
The Jet and team made the trip back to the LaSalle Speedway for the opening night of the 2012 points season. The Jet timed in at a 13.48 which got him the 8th position following fast time set by Russ Scheffler, and a log jam of cars in the 13.4 bracket. That got Bret the 4th starting spot in heat race number two. Bret picked up one spot in the heat to finish third behind Ryan Unzicker and Scott Schmitt. The third finishing spot in heat race number to slated Bret to pull off 6th in the 25 lap A-Main event. Prior to a lap 23 caution Bret battled his way past Mike Spatola and Scott Schmitt to claim the 4th place position. That setup a green white checkered where Bret would find his was around the 42a machine of Shawn Toczek and claim the third finishing position. Overall a good run for the team and a great way to kick off the points season.
