Fall Classic @ Chilton
The Jet and team headed to Fall Classic @ Chilton with high hopes to turn around the recent bad luck. The night started off good with a good pill draw to slot Bret with the third starting spot in heat number one. In the ten lap heat event Bret pulled into second early and rode out the race in second as the top 4 from each heat would go on to a redraw. With the heat race aside The Jet and team prepared for the All Star race that the Jet drew the sixth starting spot for. Bret made a hard charge up to third before having yet another right rear tire go down. The Jet retired from the All Star race early but was firing on all cylinders the next night in the A-Main event making a hard charge up to third from seventh where his progress would halt. Was a good end to the two day event that has The Jet now looking forward to this Tuesday's Lucas Oil event at LaSalle.
Bad Luck continues for The Jet
The Jet headed back to LaSalle and started the night well by taking 2nd in time at a 12.86 to Mike Spatola's 12.81. This put Bret in the 1st starting spot in the second heat race. Bret got out to an early lead to never look back in his heat race which he took over Jon Henry and Rusty Schlenk who are 3rd and 2nd in UMP National points respectively. Winning his heat put Bret on the outside of the front row of the feature. After the start Bret saw him self in third place in line right there on a hammer down track. About 10 laps in is when the bad luck struck again and The Jet's right rear tire went down ending what could of been a heck of a race for The Jet on an awesome track with a lot of close quarters racing.
Weekend of Bad Luck
The Jet and team headed into the weekend with high hopes heading to the Kankakee Speedway Friday night and the LaSalle Speedway Saturday night. Both nights started off well but ended less than desirable. Friday night at Kankakee "The Jet" qualified 6th catching the invert to put him on the pole of the fast heat. Starting upfront in the heat Bret got the jump and never looked back. Bret started on the pole of the feature tucking in behind Ryan Unzicker on the start and was in hot pursuit the whole race never more than 2 car lengths back. The night didn't end well as Bret broke a birdcage with about 8 laps to go. LaSalle on Saturday night was deja vu, "The Jet" went out and set fast time to put himself on the pole of the fast heat. Bret jumped out to an early lead in the 10 lap heat race and had accumulated a straightaway lead by the time the race was over. Starting on the pole of the feature Bret was in command early. Having a healthy lead most of the race vanished on a lap 14 caution. Following the caution with about 7 laps to go Bret had a right rear tire go down while leading ending his night early. In contention for two wins back to back nights where not meant to be as tough breaks sent "The Jet" back to the trailer early.
